Producer prices declined in March in the Eurozone

Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU), released the PPI data for March for the EU and the Eurozone.

According to the data, the PPI in the EU decreased by 0.5 percent in March compared to the previous month and decreased by 7.6 percent compared to the same month in 2023.

In the Eurozone, the PPI also decreased by 0.4 percent on a monthly basis and by 7.8 percent on an annual basis in March.

Market expectations were also pointing towards a monthly decrease of 0.4 percent in the PPI in the Eurozone.

Among EU countries, the PPI decreased the most on a monthly basis in March by 3.4 percent in Bulgaria, by 2.3 percent in Greece and Denmark, and by 2.2 percent in Spain. On a monthly basis, the PPI increased by 0.9 percent in Ireland and Sweden, and by 0.2 percent in Germany and Croatia in March.

On an annual basis, the PPI decreased by 24.6 percent in Slovakia, by 19.8 percent in Ireland, and by 13.4 percent in Belgium in March, while it increased by 16.5 percent in Luxembourg and by 0.7 percent in Malta.
