May record in exports from Turkiye to Germany

Turkiye signed the highest May export of all time to Germany with $1 billion 599 million.

Continuing to record records in exports to Germany, Turkiye continues to compete strongly in the trade it carries out to its main markets.

According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye realized the highest May export of all time to Germany with $1 billion 599 million.

While Turkiye’s exports to Germany increased by 17.6% in May compared to the same period of the previous year, Germany’s share in total exports was 7.4%.

Thus, Germany continued to be the country to which Turkiye exports the most.

Germany was followed by the USA with $1 billion 108 million, the United Kingdom with $977 million 729 thousand, Italy with $896 million 942 thousand, and Spain with $877 million 144 thousand.

Russian Federation led the increase in exports

In May, compared to the same period of the previous year, Turkiye recorded the highest increase in exports on a value basis, in exports to the Russian Federation. Turkiye’s exports to the Russian Federation increased by $374 million 449 thousand.

The Russian Federation was followed by Germany with $239 million 420 thousand, France with $177 million 109 thousand, the United Arab Emirates with $168 million 387 thousand, and Saudi Arabia with $163 million 578 thousand.

In May, Turkiye exported $809 million 277 thousand to the Russian Federation, $874 million 236 thousand to France, $360 million 84 thousand to the United Arab Emirates, and $166 million 504 thousand to Saudi Arabia.

Automotive industry exports to Germany exceeded $400 million in May

From a sectoral perspective, the industrial sector continues to play an active role in exports to Germany. The first 8 sectors that made the most foreign sales to the country were within the industry.

In May, the automotive industry made the highest amount of exports to the country with $426 million 440 thousand. The automotive industry was followed by ready-made clothing and apparel with $231 million 138 thousand, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals with $160 million 898 thousand, chemicals and products with $119 million 617 thousand, electricity and electronics with $115 million 269 thousand, machinery and accessories with $99 million 300 thousand, steel with $74 million 588 thousand, and air conditioning industry with $72 million 270 thousand.

Exports of 20 sectors increased

Looking at the increase in exports of sectors to Germany, 20 sectors increased their exports to this country in May compared to the same period of the previous year.

The automotive industry led the increase in exports to the country with an increase of $112 million 397 thousand.

Exports to Germany increased by $29 million 103 thousand, chemicals and products by $19 million 565 thousand, air conditioning industry by $17 million 799 thousand, and hazelnut and its products by $16 million 321 thousand.

In this period, $638 million 250 thousand from Istanbul, $211 million 311 thousand from Bursa, $137 million 536 thousand from Izmir, $101 million 229 thousand from Kocaeli and $88 million 135 thousand from Ankara were exported to the country in this period.
