MediaTek introduces Helio G36 processor for affordable smartphones

MediaTek has announced the Helio G36 chipset, which will power budget-friendly smartphones.

MediaTek, one of the world’s largest mobile processor brands, announced the Helio G36 chipset, which will power budget-friendly smartphones. The processor, which is the successor of the Helio G35, is expected to be used in entry-level models.

The MediaTek Helio G36 goes through TSMC’s 12nm fabrication process. The chipset includes octa-core Cortex-A53 running at 2.2 GHz. On the graphics side, IMG PowerVR GE8320 is used. The chipset incorporates MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technologies. Resource Management Engine 2.0 provides sustained performance with dynamic management of GPU, CPU and memory, while Networking Engine 2.0 provides faster response and better connectivity for uninterrupted services.

MediaTek Helio G36 supports Full HD+ resolution displays with 90Hz refresh rate for smooth screen scrolling and gaming experience. It allows the use of dual cameras with two 13 MP lenses or a single sensor lens up to 50 MP, along with hardware-based imaging features such as bokeh effects, MEMA 3DNR, multi-frame noise reduction and more. The system-on-chip also allows devices to shoot 1080p videos at 30fps.

Connectivity options include MediaTek Helio G36, integrated dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, dual 4G VoLTE along with Galileo, GLONASS and GPS. It is not yet known on which smartphone the chipset will be used first. When we look at the features of the Helio G36, it is estimated that it will be used in affordable and entry-level smartphones.
