Minister Simsek: We want to firmly reconnect Turkiye to the European Union

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Simsek stated that they welcomed the European Commission’s latest report on the “state of EU-Turkiye political, economic and commercial relations” and said, “We want to firmly reconnect Turkiye to the European Union.”

Minister Simsek shared a post in English on his social media account regarding the latest report on “The status of EU-Turkiye political, economic and commercial relations”.

In his post, Simsek stated that they welcomed the European Commission’s latest report on the “state of EU-Turkiye political, economic and commercial relations” and noted that the measures proposed by the commission and the high representative point to encouraging and positive developments.

“Turkiye and the EU are stronger together”

Simsek drew attention to the calls for the resumption of the EU-Turkiye High Level Dialogues, especially on economy, energy and transportation, reviving talks on the draft negotiation framework for the modernization of the EU-Turkiye Customs Union, inviting the European Investment Bank to restart its activities in all sectors in Turkiye, easing of visa restrictions for Turkish business people, students, Turkish citizens and their family members in the EU and for the High Level Political Dialogue meetings at the association council and ministerial level to continue where they left off.

Emphasizing that “Turkiye and the EU are stronger together”, Simsek said, “We want to reconnect Turkiye firmly to the European Union.”
