DBB Contracting and Khansaheb Civil Engineering have been awarded contracts for the residential and leisure hub.

Dubai-based Nakheel, a Dubai Holding member, has awarded infrastructure contracts for the next phase of development at Palm Jebel Ali in UAE.

Spanning 13.4km of land and encompassing 10.5 million m2 of development, Palm Jebel Ali features 16 fronds with a combined coastline of 110km and 91km of beachfront.

It is expected to house approximately 35,000 families, contributing to Dubai’s projected population growth to 5.8 million people by 2040.The island will offer a range of amenities for residents, families, and visitors.

DBB Contracting has secured the contract to construct a public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road to Palm Jebel Ali, as well as a construction road for the central area of the Palm.

This new public access road will extend nearly 6km and provide a landscaped route directly onto Palm Jebel Ali.

Khansaheb Civil Engineering has been awarded the contract for roadway and lighting improvements on Al Hesah Street, which is part of the Dubai Waterfront and connects to Palm Jebel Ali.

Dubai Holding Real Estate CEO Khalid Al Malik said: “Today, we proudly announce the appointment of DBB Contracting and Khansaheb Civil Engineering as our partners for the next phase of development at Palm Jebel Ali.

“Alongside these best-in-class partners, we are not only ensuring the highest standards of urban infrastructure for our customers, but also contributing to the realisation of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.”

The island will serve as an additional urban centre for Dubai, becoming a residential and leisure hub near the new Expo 2020 urban centre.

This development is in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which aims to increase the length of public beaches by 400%.

It is also in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and is expected to initiate a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area.

This comes after Nakheel awarded iBuild Construction and United Engineering Construction the contract for the construction of Jebel Ali Village in Dubai last year.
