DHL Group signed an agreement to buy all the shares of MNG Kargo

DHL Group signed an agreement to purchase all (100%) shares of MNG Kargo.

According to the joint statement, the agreement will give a new impetus to Turkiye’s rapidly growing e-commerce and cargo sectors.

While Turkiye stands out as a country where e-commerce grows in double digits, much faster than EU markets, with its young and dynamic population, widespread digital communication network and established transportation infrastructure, the markets interpret this direct investment in Turkiye from Europe as “trust in the country’s economy and growth potential”.

Founded in 2003, MNG Kargo is one of the leading players in the sector with 27 transfer centers, more than 800 branches and employment for approximately 10 thousand people. MNG Kargo, which will benefit from the international logistics expertise and extensive global network of the DHL Group, will become a part of the DHL e-commerce unit and complete the DHL e-commerce European cargo delivery network.

DHL Group Chief Executive (CEO) Tobias Meyer, whose views were included in the statement, said:

“Besides sustainability, globalization and digitalisation, we have identified e-commerce as a megatrend in logistics and made it a focus area in the DHL Group Strategy 2025. e-commerce remains one of the biggest growth drivers for the logistics industry and especially cargo volumes. For this reason, we are constantly working to expand our footprint in the e-commerce sector with organic and inorganic growth strategies. MNG Kargo will complement our business portfolio and help us further expand our established network in this sector.”

“It also shows the increasing investment appetite”

President of the Presidency Investment Office Burak Daglioglu emphasized that Turkiye is a regional center in the logistics sector with its growing economy, strategic location, competent workforce and established transportation infrastructure.

Daglioglu said, “The cargo volume in our country is increasing day by day with the double-digit growth achieved in e-commerce. This acquisition of DHL, one of the most important players of the sector, in the 100th anniversary of our Republic, also demonstrates our country’s belief in its potential and its increasing investment appetite. Under the leadership of our President, improving the investment environment of our country and increasing international direct investments is one of our most important goals.”

“The acquisition of MNG Kargo will help us bring our global customers together with the Turkish market”

Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL e-Commerce, said, “As DHL e-Commerce, our aim is to provide reliable, accessible and sustainable e-commerce delivery services to our customers. The backbone of this strategy is our extensive network, digital expertise and competencies that we operate ourselves or through partnerships. The acquisition of MNG Kargo will strengthen our established network and help us bring our global customers together with the Turkish market.”

MNG Kargo CEO Kagan Gunduz said, “As MNG Kargo, we aim to further improve the quality of service we offer to consumers by backing up with DHL Group’s global knowledge and technology and to create even higher employment with capacity increase investments. Our country has become the focus of international manufacturers’ strategies for creating a sustainable supply chain and the development of our industry will continue without slowing down.”

It was stated that the approval of the Competition Authority and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority is needed to complete the transaction.
