The initiative includes allowing up to 200 wagons per day through the Razi border crossing in the Iranian West Azerbaijan region.

The restoration of passenger transport between Tehran and the city of Van became possible in 2019 after a four-year hiatus.
Discussions also covered plans to increase freight transit volumes through Turkiye,including the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Turkiye route, with subsequent routes to European countries.
The growth in transit freight is attributed to agreements between Iran’s railways and their partners from the mentioned countries.
It’s important to note that Iran’s transit freight volume increased significantly to 9.4 million tons in the first 8 months of 2023, marking a 28.2% growth compared to the same period last year (from March 22 to November 21).
This dynamic indicates active development in railway connections between Turkiye and Iran.
