An agreement was signed between Roketsan and EDGE Group for the development of smart ammunition.
Roketsan, Turkiye’s important player in the world in the fields of rockets, missiles and ammunition, signed an agreement with EDGE Group, the largest defense and aerospace company group of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for the joint development of new and advanced smart weapon technologies.
Dubai Airshow 2023, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, hosts more than 1400 participants from 95 countries.
Various cooperation agreements are made between companies at the fair. In this context, an agreement was signed between Roketsan and EDGE Group for the development of smart ammunition.
The signing ceremony was held with the participation of Roketsan Advanced Technologies and Systems Deputy General Manager Cenk Onen, Roketsan Market Development and Promotion Director Mustafa Odabas and EDGE Group officials.
Under the agreement, Roketsan and EDGE Group will work together to explore opportunities for joint development of new and advanced smart weapon technologies.
“We will start working on collaborations related to advanced technology weapon systems and ammunition.”
Roketsan Market Development and Promotion Director Odabas, in his statement to the AA correspondent, reminded that the SAHA Istanbul-EDGE Defense Industry Meeting was held in Ankara approximately 2 months ago, he said that within the scope of this event, EDGE signed memorandums of understanding with approximately 25 companies in the defense industry.
Stating that the agreement they signed today is an agreement for more detailed cooperation, Odabas said, “We have also determined the issues related to the areas in which we can cooperate. From now on, we will start working on collaborations with EDGE regarding new and advanced technology weapon systems and ammunition.”
Stating that it was an honor for them to wave the Turkish flag in Dubai, Odabas said, “Turkish UAVs were sold to the UAE. Roketsan ammunition is used on these UAVs. End users, especially from the UAE Air Force, came to see the MAM-C, MAM-L and MAM-T. We provided detailed information about our ammunition to end users. “We encountered intense interest in Dubai.”
Odabas stated that many Roketsan-produced ammunition, including CAKIR, SUNGUR and CIRIT, attracted great attention at the fair, and stated that, in addition to end users, they also held meetings with the leading defense industry organizations of the UAE.
Odabas also added that they had a meeting with the UAE Space Agency regarding launch systems.
