Turkiye’s Natural Gas Imports Decline by 11.2% in February

Turkiye’s natural gas imports decreased by 11.2% in February compared to the same month last year, reaching 5 billion 337 million 32 thousand cubic meters.

According to the “Natural Gas Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for February, 3 billion 675 million 80 thousand cubic meters of imports were made through pipelines and 1 billion 661 million 52 cubic meters were made through liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.

Thus, total natural gas imports decreased by 11.2% in this period and reached 5 billion 337 million 32 thousand cubic meters.

While the highest natural gas import in February was from Russia with 2 billion 658 million 23 thousand cubic meters, this country was followed by Azerbaijan with 775 million 76 cubic meters and Iran with 241 million 81 cubic meters.

During this period, 813 million 16 thousand cubic meters of LNG were imported from the USA.

Gas consumption in residences increased by 20.9%

Total natural gas consumption in the country increased by 4.45% on an annual basis in February, reaching approximately 6 billion 372 million 24 thousand cubic meters.

Natural gas consumption of the industrial sector was recorded as 1 billion 158 million 87 thousand cubic meters, with an increase of 27.35%. Natural gas consumption in power plants decreased by 55.10% to 520 million 83 thousand cubic meters.

Natural gas consumption in residences increased by 20.9% in this period, reaching 3 billion 602 million cubic meters.

Natural gas stock amount increased

The amount of natural gas stock in Turkiye increased by 11.53% in February compared to the same month last year, reaching 5 billion 363 million cubic meters.

4 billion 955 million cubic meters of the natural gas stock is in underground storage facilities, and 408 million cubic meters is in LNG terminals.
