Sisecam increased its net sales to ₺95 billion in 9 months

Continuing its global growth with its production activities spread across 14 countries on four continents and sales exceeding 150 countries, Sisecam’s consolidated net sales reached ₺95 billion in the 9-month period of 2023.

Sisecam announced its financial results for the 9-month period of 2023. Accordingly, Sisecam’s consolidated net sales in this period reached ₺95 billion ($4.3 billion), while the share of international sales, which represents the sum of exports from Turkiye and sales from non-Turkish production, in consolidated sales was 64%.

In the 9 months of this year, Sisecam’s total investments were ₺11.9 billion ($534 million) and its exports were $814 million. During this period, the company produced 3.9 million tons of glass, 3.4 million tons of soda ash and 2.8 million tons of industrial raw materials.

Continuing its investments that support its uninterrupted growth in the 3rd quarter of the year, Sisecam commissioned its flat glass furnace in India, where it employs 264 people, with new technologies after a cold repair investment of approximately $56 million. Sisecam completed the cold repair of the glassware furnace in Egypt. With this investment, it increased its glassware production capacity in Egypt to 35 thousand tons annually.

In September, Sisecam commissioned its first auto glass-specific float line in Luleburgaz with an investment of approximately $190 million. The new line, which is planned to achieve high efficiency and capacity utilization and is specially designed to produce thin glass, will provide additional employment for 114 people while operating with an annual capacity of 200 thousand tons.

Sisecam’s investments continue

On the other hand, Sisecam’s ongoing investments continue uninterrupted. Sisecam continues the construction of the TR9 float line in Tarsus, one of the 5 flat glass investments with the highest capacity on a global scale, and the cold repair and capacity increase works of the TR1 float line in Luleburgaz and continues its investments in glass packaging facilities in Eskisehir and Hungary, which it is preparing to realize in order to meet the increasing demand in the glass packaging market in Turkiye and the world.

Soda ash investments in the USA are progressing as planned. Sisecam signed a letter of intent to invest in the Turkish technology company ICRON, which provides operational and strategic decision optimization services in the first half of the year, as an outcome of its growth journey focused on data, innovation and digitalization, and reached an agreement on a partnership with ICRON in October. As a result of this first investment in software technologies, Sisecam aims to grow together with ICRON and take the operational excellence and optimization approach in its current activities to the next level.

“Oscar of the glass industry” award to Sisecam

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kirman, Chairman and Executive Director of Sisecam, received the Glass Person of The Year 2023 award, known as the “Oscar of the glass industry”, by the Phoenix Award Committee for his contributions to the development of the global glass industry, at a special ceremony held in Como, Italy.

Leading representatives of the global business world and the glass industry attended the special night, where Phoenix Award Committee Chairman Lincoln Brown presented his award to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kirman.

The award, which is among the most prestigious awards in the glass industry, has been presented to scientists, designers, engineers and business people who have supported and led the development of glass in areas such as R&D, product design and engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales since 1971.
