Sunflower oil price is expected to decrease

Hasan Ozkan, Vice President of the Southern and Southeastern Anatolian Vegetable Oil Industrialists Association (GUNYAGDER), stated that the expectation of a record production of 1.8 million tons this year will reduce the price of sunflower oil.

In his written statement, Hasan Ozkan, Vice President of the Southern and Southeastern Anatolia Vegetable Oil Industrialists Association (GUNYAGDER), stated that the oil sunflower harvest continues in Cukurova.

Noting that a record harvest is expected in sunflower production this year both in the world and throughout the country, Ozkan said, “I wish the season to be beneficial for all our producers. We will break a record with a production of 1.8 million tons this year. Likewise, there is a record production expectation of 59 million tons in the world. This increase in supply will be reflected as a decrease in sunflower oil prices. The price of sunflower oil will decrease. This will bring the consumer to reach sunflowers at more affordable prices.”

Ozkan stated that Turkey imported close to 1 million tons of sunflower oil last season, and that 400 thousand tons more imports are expected this season, adding, “The figures that will be formed considering the quality and logistics costs will reduce the prices of sunflower oil. Our citizens will consume refined sunflower oil on their tables at a more affordable cost. On the other hand, decreasing prices will contribute positively to food inflation.”
