Direct Istanbul-Sivas High-Speed Train (YHT) Service Launches on May 4

Direct Sivas-Istanbul voyages will be operated in line with the demands from passengers traveling by YHT from Sivas and Ankara. The journey between Istanbul and Sivas will take 7 hours with express voyages that will start on May 4.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu underlined that thanks to the investments made in railways, era-changing projects in transportation have been implemented.

Expressing that they, as the ministry, work without hesitation in high-speed train projects, renewal and modernization of existing railways, and development of the domestic railway industry, Uraloglu stated that they will continue their railway investments without slowing down in order to ensure safe, economical, environmentally friendly and comfortable transportation of citizens.

“971 thousand passengers traveled in 1 year”

Uraloglu stated that with the Ankara-Sivas YHT line entering service on April 26, 2023, the distance between Ankara and Sivas decreased from 603 kilometers to 405 kilometers, and the travel time from 12 hours decreased to 2 hours, and noted that the distance between Ankara and Yozgat decreased by 1 hour.

Uraloglu stated that the high-speed train line, which started to serve with 8 stations on the route, reached Elmadag, Kirikkale, Yerkoy, Yozgat, Sorgun, Akdagmadeni, Yildizeli and finally Sivas. “With the connection of Kırıkkale, Yozgat and Sivas provinces to the Ankara-based high-speed train network, approximately 1.3 million citizens living in these provinces have the opportunity to travel by high-speed train. 971 thousand passengers have traveled with YHT, which is operated 3 times a day between Ankara and Sivas, in the last year since it was put into service on April 26, 2023.”

Non-stop voyages from Sivas to Istanbul

Stating that the work has been completed in line with the direct Sivas-Istanbul voyage requests from passengers traveling by YHT from Sivas and Ankara, Uraloglu said, “Our high-speed train, which will depart from Sivas at 13.00 on May 4, will continue to Istanbul expressly and non-stop. Our express trains, which will be operated using sets with a capacity of 483 passengers, will depart from Istanbul at 08.40, arrive in Sivas at 15.58, depart from Sivas at 13.00 and reach Istanbul at 20.08.”

Uraloglu stated that the Istanbul-Sivas journey will take 7 hours 18 minutes, and the Sivas-Istanbul journey will take 7 hours 8 minutes, and said, “Express high-speed trains will stop in Yozgat, Kirikkale, Ankara, Eskisehir, Arifiye and Pendik between Sivas and Istanbul. In the coming days, we will listen to passenger demands, make the necessary evaluations and make changes to the operating plan.”
