The “Mexico Sectoral Trade Delegation” program was organized in Bursa in order to increase the exports of Turkish automotive companies to Mexico.
According to the statement made by Uludag Exporters’ Associations (UIB), representatives of Mexico’s important importer companies held meetings in Bursa, Istanbul and Konya within the scope of the program organized by Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Association (OIB) under the coordination of the Ministry of Commerce.
OIB Chairman Baran Celik, whose evaluations were included in the statement, stated that Turkish automotive companies exported $220 million to Mexico last year, and that with market studies, exports could exceed $250 million in the short term.
Stating that Mexico alone accounts for one-third of the region’s exports and imports, and that there are approximately 500 automotive companies and 10 automotive clusters in the country, Celik said, “As of last year, Mexico imported nearly $50 billion of automotive, mainly from the supply industry.”
Celik pointed out that a significant portion of Mexico’s automotive imports come from the USA and said:
“China, Japan, Germany, Canada, India, Republic of Korea and Brazil are the other countries that have a share in the country’s imports. Turkiye ranks 18th in Mexico’s automotive imports. Among our $220 million of exports to Mexico, the supply industry ranks first with $125 million. This group is followed by motor vehicles for transporting goods with $60 million. We have the potential to increase our exports to over $250 million in the short term with market studies. As OIB, our aim is to increase our exports in line with our goals by establishing good relations with the country’s leading buyers and providing new business opportunities to many of our companies.”
