Sakarya Automotive Exports Reach $1.3 Billion in First Quarter

Sakarya, one of the leading provinces in Turkiye’s automotive exports, achieved foreign sales of $1 billion 336 million 256 thousand in the first quarter of the year.

According to the AA correspondent’s compilation of data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Sakarya, which contributed 2.4% to the country’s exports in the January-March period, ranked seventh after Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir, Ankara and Gaziantep.

Sakarya, which exported $1 billion 336 million 256 thousand to 129 countries and 9 free zones in the first quarter of the year, made the most foreign sales on a sectoral basis in the automotive field with 86.1%.

The city, which hosts production facilities such as Toyota, TurkTraktor and Otokar, continued its rise by exporting $1 billion 151 million 226 thousand in the said sector.

The second sector with the highest number of products shipped from the city was iron and non-ferrous metals with $36 million 755 thousand. These sectors were followed by chemicals and products with $23 million 951 thousand, steel with $20 million 353 thousand, machinery and parts with $17 million 61 thousand, and hazelnuts and products with $16 million 809 thousand.

Most exports were made to France

In the January-March period, the largest export from the city was to France with $185 million 997 thousand. Sales to this country increased by 43.4% compared to the same period last year.

The second country to which Sakarya exported the most was the United Kingdom with $155 million 663 thousand. This was followed by Italy with $145 million 200 thousand, Poland with $134 million 932 thousand and Germany with $103 million 431 thousand.
