The number of airports in Turkiye will be increased to 61

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu said, “We will increase our effectiveness in the field of air transportation by increasing the number of airports from 57 to 61.”

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu noted the following in his presentation at the 2024 budget discussions of his ministry at the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye Planning and Budget Commission;

We used our airlines effectively in disaster logistics during the February 6 earthquakes. We evacuated 720 thousand citizens from the region. We will increase our effectiveness in the field of air transportation by increasing the number of airports from 57 to 61.

The number of our unmanned aerial vehicles increased to 70 thousand 589, and the number of people with a UAV pilot license increased to 1 million 466 thousand.

In the coming period, we will bring broadband internet service to every home. We aim to reach 102 million mobile subscribers in 2028. We will increase the number of broadband subscribers to 112 million.

In line with our medium-term plan target covering the next 3-year period, the railway investment share will be 49%.

A total of 80 million passengers traveled by high-speed train. More than 1 billion passengers have used Marmara to date.

We will reduce travel time to 80 minutes with the Ankara-Istanbul Super Fast Train Project

We aim to increase the railway line length to 17 thousand 11 kilometers by 2028 and to 28 thousand 600 kilometers in 2053.
