The number of tourists coming to Mugla approached 2.5 million

2 million 429 thousand 981 tourists visited Mugla, which has Turkiye’s important tourism centers, in 8 months.

Mugla, the tourism city where the Mediterranean and the Aegean meet, famous for its natural beauties and ancient cities, serves local and foreign guests with its facilities with a bed capacity of 340 thousand.

The city, which hosts millions of tourists every year, continues to host the majority of British tourists coming to Turkiye.

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism data, 2 million 429 thousand 981 tourists visited Mugla in the 8-month period of the year.

The countries where the most tourists came were England with 1 million 23 thousand 554 people, Russia with 283 thousand 604 people, Poland with 161 thousand 669 people, Germany with 138 thousand 583 people and the Netherlands with 64 thousand 121 people. 758 thousand 450 tourists came to the city from other countries.

The number of tourists increased by approximately 15% compared to the same period last year

Mehmet Ayyildiz, President of Marmaris Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, told the AA correspondent that there was a 15% increase in the number of tourists coming to Mugla compared to the same period last year.

Stating that nearly 2.5 million tourists came to Mugla and 40% of them were British citizens, Ayyildiz said, “We were very happy for our tradesmen that there was a 15% increase in the same period compared to last year. This situation motivates and motivates us for the new tourism promotions we plan to make in 2024.”

Ayyildiz explained that the tourism season will continue for about 2 more months and that they will close 2023 with a large increase.

“We will continue to promote Marmaris”

Marmaris Chamber of Commerce Chairman Mutlu Ayhan also pointed out that there was a 15% increase in foreign markets and expressed their satisfaction with the increase in the number of foreign passengers arriving at Dalaman Airport international flights.

Stating that there is an increase in the Polish market as well as the UK, Ayhan said:

“Another pleasing thing is the rising Polish market after the Warsaw Fair, which we attended for the first time last year. The number of Polish guests, which was 13 thousand last year, increased to 29 thousand this year. We have started promotional activities for 2024. As Marmaris Chamber of Commerce, we will take part in tourism fairs held in Poland, Denmark and Germany, especially in our source market, England. We will continue to promote Marmaris together with our stakeholder institutions at Antalya, Istanbul and Izmir fairs.”

Ayhan added that they have achieved a good increase in the tourism market this year and that they hope the increase will continue to increase next year.
