The year-end target of Aegean ready-made clothing exporters is $1 billion 300 million

Aegean Ready-made Clothing and Apparel Exporters’ Association (EHKIB) President Burak Sertbas said that they are targeting an export of $1 billion 300 million this year.

Sertbas evaluated 2023 and shared his expectations for 2024 at the press conference he held at the Aegean Exporters’ Association.

Stating that 2023 was a difficult year for EHKIB, Sertbas stated that they achieved exports of $1 billion 340 million, with a decrease of 9% compared to the previous year.

Sertbas noted that the decrease was due to reasons such as the stagnation in the main export markets of Europe, the uncertainty created by the Russia-Ukraine war, access to financing and cost increase problems, and said that 2024 will not be an easy year.

Stating that insufficient demand continues due to the impact of the recession in the EU, Sertbas explained that the low demand also negatively affects production.

Sertbas stated that they expect a recovery in the last quarter of the year if things go well in the sector, and added that their export target for 2024 is $1 billion 300 million.
