This 2023 McLaren F1 Concept Will Reclaim The Fastest Car Throne From Bugatti

We fuse the Speedtail’s 1000+ HP hybrid powertrain with the insanely aerodynamic Senna supercar to create the Bugatti-beating 2023 McLaren F1.

Gordon Murray has created the spiritual successor of the iconic McLaren F1 in the GMA T50 supercar. But we wanted to take things the old-school way. So, we created a McLaren-badged reincarnation of what is regarded by many to be the first-ever hypercar. Our render guru, Rostislav Prokop, has created the 2023 McLaren F1 Concept to carry on the legacy of the iconic three-seater supercar.

And what better way to reclaim the ‘world’s most powerful car’ tag back?! The 90s McLaren F1 still is the fastest naturally aspirated production car in the world, a 25-year-old record! But we aren’t targeting the predecessor. Our 2023 McLaren F1 takes on the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ to win over the fastest car crown.

The 2023 F1 hypercar fuses the aerodynamic and light bodywork derived from a McLaren Senna and the hybrid performance from the McLaren Speedtail. It even gets a stick shift, thanks to Koenigsegg. The result is a car that has an ethos closer to the original F1 and the underpinnings to knock down the Giants.

What Makes Our 2023 McLaren F1 So Special?

Gordon Murray is the mastermind behind the original McLaren F1 supercar of the 90s. He created something that transcended all supercars of the day. He created the first-ever car worthy of the ‘hypercar’ tag. We, with the 2023 McLaren F1 Concept, have carried over that lineage into the hybrid supercar world. But there is no gold foil in the engine bay of our 2023 F1 hypercar. The car industry has come a long way in engine heat management.

Talking of which, the 2023 F1 makes use of the mild-hybrid powertrain setup from the McLaren Speedtail. The twin-turbocharged 4.0-Liter V8 coupled to an electric motor churns out an insane 1,035 hp and 848 lb-ft of torque. We have fiddled with the ECU to squeeze out up to 1,300 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque without any other major modifications.

We badly wanted to pack a stick shift in this gorgeous concept hypercar, but a hybrid car cannot be coupled to a stick shift. And that’s why we have borrowed the futuristic manual transmission from the 1,385-HP Koenigsegg CC850. The Swedish hypercar maker has managed to couple the old-school feel of a stick shift and a clutch pedal with that of an automatic gearbox. Our F1 borrows Koenigsegg’s “Engage Shift System” and couples it to a seven-speed DCT to bring back true driving pleasure.

The result is a hybrid hypercar in 2023 in which you can use all three pedals to accelerate from 0-186 mph in an insane 12.8 seconds. The 2023 McLaren F1 retains the iconic three-seater cabin layout. This puts the driver at the center of the car for the best possible driving experience. It truly evokes an “F1 car for the roads” feeling, but with added comfort and a shocking dose of luxury.

This F1 Concept Can Beat The Fastest Car In The World

Currently, the fastest car in the world is the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. This godly hypercar does 0-60 mph in 2.2 seconds and has a top speed of 304.7 mph. Now, our McLaren F1 reincarnation is about 300 hp shy compared to the Bugatti with the humongous 8.0-Liter quad-turbocharged engine. But we have theoretically coped up for that with insane aerodynamics and aggressive weight savings.

The original McLaren F1 used materials that were unheard of, even in the 90s supercar world, to cap the weight at an impressive 2,509 pounds. These included carbon fiber, titanium, magnesium, and Kevlar. Prokop also recreates a similar power-to-weight ratio magic in the 2023 McLaren F1.

You might have noticed that our concept looks a lot similar to the insanely aerodynamic Senna supercar. That’s because it was the perfect platform to evolve on. We use the 2,900-pound Senna supercar’s lightweight chassis to create the under-3,000-pound 2023 F1 hypercar. The added heft is due to the hybrid part of the Speedtail’s powertrain. But that is just half the story.

Aerodynamics have been cleverly modified to fuse the slippery contour of the Speedtail and the aggressive downforce from the Senna supercar. The result is a hypercar hypothetically capable of doing 0-60 mph in under 2 seconds and a top speed of 300+ mph.

For reference, the 3,500-pound McLaren Speedtail is capable of hitting a top speed of 251 mph. The performance gain and weight loss are ample to help our 2023 F1 hypercar to catapult past the Chiron Super Sport 300+, which weighs over 4,000 pounds. Yup! We have a new ‘fastest car in the world’ to look up to on paper, and it is a new McLaren F1!

How Much Does A McLaren F1 Cost?

Only 106 units of the McLaren F1 were made from 1994 to 1998. This makes it one of the most exclusive cars in the world right now. Add the insane technological and driving prowess to that package, and we have a Gordon Murray creation that sells for insane money! This 90s hypercar is so coveted that not many are ready to part ways with it. But, for the rare few that do, the 90s McLaren F1 sells for an average of $20.1 million.
