THY carried 7.9 million passengers in September

Turkish Airlines’ international occupancy rate was 84.6% and its domestic occupancy rate was 87.3%.

Turkish Airlines (THY) carried 7.9 million passengers last month, an increase of 9.2%.

According to the statement made by THY, THY announced the passenger and cargo traffic results for September. The company carried a total of 7.9 million passengers in September, increasing its offered capacity by 8.9% above 2022, and reached an occupancy rate of 84.9%.

The total number of passengers increased by 9.2% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 7.9 million. THY’s international occupancy rate was 84.6% and its domestic occupancy rate was 87.3%.

While the number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 2.3 million in September 2022, it increased by 14.6% to 2.7 million in the same period this year.

While the total offered seat kilometers (AKK) was 19.3 billion in September 2022, it increased by 8.9% and reached 21.1 billion in the same period this year.

While the volume of cargo and mail transported was 145.4 thousand tons in September 2022, it increased by 3.4% in the same period of 2023 and was recorded as 150.3 thousand tons.

January-September 2023 traffic results evaluation

According to the “January-September 2023 traffic results assessment”, the number of passengers carried increased by 18.6% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 63.9 million.

While the number of international-to-international transfer passengers was 17.1 million in January-September 2022, it increased by 31.2% to 22.4 million in the same period of this year.

Total passenger occupancy rate increased by 3.4 points in the January-September period compared to the same period last year, reaching 83.1%. While international passenger occupancy was 82.9%, domestic passenger occupancy was recorded as 84.9%.

While the total supplied seat kilometers was 150.9 billion in January-September 2022, this year it increased by 16.6% and reached 176 billion. While the total transported cargo and mail volume in the January-September period was 1 million 259 thousand tons in 2022, it decreased by 5.7% this year and was recorded as 1 million 187 thousand tons. At the end of September, the number of aircraft in the fleet was 430.
