THY Teknik and Honeywell strengthen their cooperation in component maintenance

Turkish Airlines (THY) Teknik Inc. will provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the “Honeywell 131-9A APU (Auxiliary Power Unit)” component used in “Airbus A320” type aircraft.

According to the statement made by the THY Press Office, THY Teknik Inc., the “licensed repair station” of Honeywell, continues to expand the content of its authorization license.

The company, which has been serving as an authorized maintenance center for “Honeywell 131-9B APUs” used in “Boeing 737” type aircraft since 2008, will transfer its experience on “131-9” types to the same type APUs used in Airbus aircraft.

Within the scope of the agreement, THY Teknik Inc. will carry out the maintenance, repair and revision operations of the “131-9A” and “131-9B” APU models as the authorized center. “Airbus A320” and “Boeing 737” type aircraft operators in the region, which had to send their APUs to facilities outside the region before this agreement, will now be able to carry out the maintenance, repair and revision operations of the relevant types at THY Teknik Inc. facilities.

THY Teknik Inc. General Manager Mikail Akbulut stated that they have been serving as an authorized maintenance center for “Honeywell 131-9B APUs” since 2008.

Akbulut stated that he believes the agreement they made for the “131-9A APU” model will further strengthen the partnership with Honeywell and continued saying, “With our experience in component maintenance and repair, I have no doubt that we will contribute to our customers in increasing their operational efficiency by providing high quality, timely, reliable and cost-effective services for APU components.”

“WE BELIEVE THAT WITH THE AGREEMENT, OUR PARTNERSHIP WILL BE STRENGTHENED”

Honeywell’s Turkiye, Israel and Central Asia President Uygar Doyuran noted that he is pleased with the new agreement signed.

Noting that they have long-standing partnerships with THY Teknik Inc., Doyuran said, “We are pleased to offer our 131-9 APUs maintenance, repair and overhaul services faster and more accessible to our customers in the region, in cooperation with Turkish Technic Inc. We believe that with this new agreement, our partnership will become even stronger.”

Honeywell, which produced the first APU model in 1950, has produced more than 100 thousand APUs in the past 72 years. In this context, more than 36 thousand APUs are in service today on more than 150 regional, private and commercial aircraft, both fixed and rotary wing.
