The sales leader in the Turkish electric car market in April continued to be Togg with 3 thousand 3 units. Following Togg T10X in April sales, SsangYong Torres took place with 739 units and BMW X1 with 361 units.
According to information compiled from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) data, automobile and light commercial vehicle sales in April 2024 decreased by 22.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching 75 thousand 919 units.
In April, automobile sales decreased by 20.61% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 61 thousand 448, while light commercial vehicle sales decreased by 28.6%, reaching 14 thousand 471.
In the said period, the automobile and light commercial vehicle market grew by 16.2% compared to the 10-year average sales in April.
“Full electric” car sales increased by 266.2% in Turkiye
In April, the number of “full electric” car sales increased by 266.2%, reaching 6,097. The share of fully electric cars in total sales increased from 2.2% to 9.9% compared to the same month last year, and the share of hybrid cars increased from 11.3% to 17.4%.
When “full electric”, “extended range electric” and “hybrid” vehicles were considered, it was seen that 28.1% of the total market consisted of vehicles with electric engines.
Togg T10X remains the market leader
According to ODMD data, Togg, which continues to rise among electric car brands, maintained its market leadership in April.
Togg, which sold 3 thousand 3 units in April, outperformed its closest rival by 2 thousand 264 units.
During this period, Togg’s electric car market share was recorded as 49.25%. In other words, 1 in every 2 electric cars sold was Togg T10X.
Looking at the 4-month data of the year, Togg’s market share in electric sales was 35.29% with 7 thousand 148 sales.
Best selling electric car brands
Looking at the electric car market on a model-by-model basis, SsangYong Torres with 739 units and BMW X1 with 361 units were ranked after Togg T10X in sales in April.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 ranked fourth with 239 units and Volvo XC40 ranked fifth with 185 units.
US-based automobile manufacturer Tesla made 27 sales.
