Turkey’s stocks, gold & Brent oil updates at weekly closing

BIST 100 gains around 10 points at closing session

Turkey’s benchmark stock index went up 0.93% to 1,086.32 points at the closing session of Friday.

After starting the last transaction day of the week at 1,074.98 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index earned 9.98 points from Thursday’s close of 1,076.34 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,072.80 and 1,090.03 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 801.4 billion Turkish liras ($108.3 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 13.97 billion Turkish liras ($1.88 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 69 stocks on the index rose, 24 fell, and seven were flat compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by glass producer Sisecam, defense giant Aselsan, and private lender Garanti.

Automotive producer Ford Otosan was the best performer, with its shares up 6.83%, while stocks of conglomerate Alarko Holding dropped the most, losing 3.62%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,934 by market close, down from $1,936.20 at the previous close,according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $42.70 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Friday.
