Turkish Banking Sector’s Credit Volume Reaches ₺12.71 Trillion, Up by ₺49.17 Billion Last Week

The credit volume of the banking sector increased by ₺49 billion 167 million last week, reaching ₺12 trillion 710 billion 921.5 million.

According to the weekly bulletin published by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA), the sector’s credit volume increased by ₺49 billion 167 million as of March 22.

During the said period, total credit volume increased from ₺12 trillion 661 billion 755 million to ₺12 trillion 710 billion 921.5 million.

Total deposits in the banking sector, including interbanks, decreased by ₺34 billion 399.5 million last week, falling to ₺15 trillion 507 billion 166 million.

The amount of consumer loans reached ₺1 trillion 612 billion

The amount of consumer loans increased by ₺17 billion 564 million to ₺1 trillion 611 billion 805 million as of March 22. ₺442 billion 549 million of the loans in question consisted of housing loans, ₺92 billion 847 million of vehicle loans and ₺1 trillion 76 billion 409 million of consumer loans.

During this period, the amount of commercial installment loans increased by ₺615.4 million and reached ₺1 trillion 574 billion 662 million.

Banks’ individual credit card receivables also increased by 0.9%, reaching ₺1 trillion 322 billion 226 million. Of the individual credit card receivables, ₺588 billion 892 million were installment debts and ₺733 billion 335 million were non-installment debts.

Legal equities increased

As of March 22, non-performing receivables in the banking sector decreased by ₺295 million compared to the previous week and decreased to ₺194 billion 832 million. Special provisions were allocated for ₺159 billion 656 million of non-performing receivables.

In the same period, the legal equity capital of the banking system increased by ₺30 billion 272 million and reached ₺2 trillion 740 billion 698.4 million.
