Turkish tea earned $17.2 million in 7 months

Tea exports from Turkiye in the January-July period increased by 30% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $17 million 182 thousand 55.

Eastern Black Sea Exporters Union Deputy Chairman of the Board Ahmet Hamdi Gurdogan said that tea was sold to 109 countries, autonomous and free zones in 7 months from the country.

Gurdogan stated that 3 thousand 576 tons of tea was exported in the January-July period of this year, and an income of $17 million 182 thousand 55 was obtained.

Expressing that $13 million 170 thousand 966 were earned from tea exports in the same period of last year, Gurdogan continued his words as follows:

“Our tea exports increased by 30% in value compared to the same period of the previous year. Belgium, the USA and the United Kingdom became the 3 countries with the highest exports. During this period, $6 million 926 thousand 4 of tea were exported to Belgium, $2 million 210 thousand 244 to the USA, $1 million 930 thousand 622 to the United Kingdom.”

Noting that the diversity of countries increased in parallel with the increase in exports, Gurdogan stated that tea was also sold to Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Congo, Slovakia, Mexico, Italy, Brazil, Poland, Gabon, New Zealand, Portugal, Angola, Togo and Rwanda during this period.

Noting that the interest in Turkish tea is increasing day by day, Gurdogan noted that they are hopeful that tea exports will continue to increase until the end of the year.
