Turkiye: $1.6 billion of exports to the Gulf countries in May

Turkiye’s exports to the Gulf countries increased by 29% in May compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $1 billion 691 million.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), Turkiye’s exports in May increased by 14.4% compared to the same period of 2022 and reached $21.7 billion.

In the said period, Turkiye’s exports to the Gulf countries increased by 29% and amounted to $1 billion 691 million.

Last month, $817.9 million worth exports were made to Iraq, $360 million to the UAE, $166.5 million to Saudi Arabia, $206.9 million to Iran and $55.3 million to Qatar. Exports were made to Kuwait for $46 million, to Oman for $24.6 million and to Bahrain for $13.6 million. Saudi Arabia was the country with the highest proportional increase in exports.

Sectors with the most exports

The sector that realized the most exports from Turkiye to the UAE in May was jewelry with $108.3 million.

Carpet exports to Saudi Arabia with $27.1 million, chemicals and products to Iran with $44 million, and furniture, paper and forestry products to Qatar with $7 million.

Ready-made clothing and apparel with $5.3 million to Kuwait, $2.4 million to Bahrain and $4.1 million to Oman came to the fore as the sectors that exported chemicals and products the most.

On the other hand, the highest export to Iraq was realized in the grains, pulses, oilseeds and products sector with $180 million.

The province that exports the most to the Gulf countries is Istanbul

In May, 208.1 million were exported from Istanbul to the UAE, $70.4 million to Saudi Arabia, $26.3 million to Qatar and $7.6 million to Bahrain, $111.1 million to Iran, $23.4 million to Kuwait, $12.12 million to Oman and $222.2 million to Iraq.
