“Exports import coverage ratio is 92.8%”

Mehmet Hakki Sanal, President of the Air Conditioning Industry Exporters’ Association (ISIB), stated that the air conditioning industry reached the highest figure of all time in its sector with an export volume of $670.7 million as of March 2023.

Sanal stated that while the export growth of the sector is above the average of Turkiye’s exports, the ratio of exports to imports is 92.8%. “In the first quarter of this year, the Turkish air conditioning industry, which has increased its exports in all sub-product groups, except for the insulation materials sub-sector, achieved an export increase of 7.9% in the heating system and elements sub-sector, 3.9% in the cooling system and elements sub-sector, and 11.3% in the air conditioning systems and elements, 11% in plumbing systems and elements, and 16.6% in ventilation systems and elements compared to the same period of 2022. While the kilogram unit price of the sector was $5.2 in the first quarter of 2022, it increased to $6.3 in the same period of this year.”

“We see an increase in demand for heat pumps”

Sanal emphasized that they are taking firm steps towards getting a 1.5% share from the world market, which is their main goal, and said:

“The first quarter figures of 2023 also support this. We are doing serious work for our exporters in terms of marketing and communication together with all sector stakeholders. This year, we have organized 13 fairs, national participation and trade delegation organizations with a wide perspective from Russia to Slovakia, from Senegal to Indonesia. Until the end of the year, we will carry out more than 40 events in line with the targets of our exporters. We increased our effectiveness in the European market by participating in ISH Frankfurt 2023, one of the biggest fairs of our industry, with 128 companies last month. We will also organize a large procurement committee for the ISK Sodex Fair, which will be held this year. In this event, our biggest goal is to bring our exporters together with the right buyers.”

Sanal stated that they continue their production activities rapidly in order to provide devices and equipment that are in serious demand, especially the heat pump, for the changing types of energy use in Europe. “The heat pump market, which is developing and growing rapidly in Europe, reached its highest point with the natural gas shortage with the Russia-Ukraine war last year. Last year, the market grew 2.5 times. We see that the market is growing and the demand for heat pumps is increasing all over the world. In 2030, the size of the European heat pump market is expected to reach 8 million units per year. In this context, we see an increase in investments from abroad to Turkiye. We believe that the new period will be very active and productive for our Turkish companies.”
