Turkiye: Confidence index rose in retail trade and construction sectors in May

Confidence index decreased by 0.6% in the service sector in May compared to the previous month, while it increased by 0.4% in the retail trade sector and 4.3% in the construction sector.

Turkish Statistical Institute announced the service, retail trade and construction confidence indices for May.

Accordingly, the seasonally adjusted confidence index decreased by 0.6% in the services sector on a monthly basis in May. The index increased by 0.4% in the retail trade sector and 4.3% in the construction sector.

Seasonally adjusted services confidence index decreased from 118.1 in April to 117.4 in May.

Compared to the previous month, the job situation in the service sector increased by 0.8% in the last three months, the demand for services increased by 1.2% in the last three months, while the expectation of demand for services in the next three months decreased by 3.6%.

Retail trade sector confidence index

Seasonally adjusted retail trade confidence index increased from 116.2 in April to 116.7 this month.

In the retail trade sector, while the business volume-sales expectation increased by 0.2% in the last three months and the business volume-sales expectation in the next three months increased by 3%, the current stock level of goods decreased by 2.4%.

Seasonally adjusted construction confidence index increased from 88.4 last month to 92.2 this month.

Compared to the previous month, the current level of registered orders in the construction sector increased by 2.9% and the total number of employees expectation sub-index in the next three months increased by 5.5%.
