Turkiye: Deposits of the banking sector decreased by ₺150.4 billion

Total deposits of the banking sector decreased by ₺150.4 billion in the week ending November 24, falling to ₺14 trillion 565.4 billion.

Weekly money and bank statistics were published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT).

Accordingly, total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) decreased by ₺150 billion 381 million 859 thousand in the week ending November 24, decreasing to ₺14 trillion 565 billion 432 million 110 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks decreased by 1.96% to ₺8 trillion 269 billion 942 million 86 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits increased by 0.04% to ₺5 trillion 692 billion 670 million 692 thousand.

While total FX deposits in banks amounted to $208 billion 503 million last week, $176 billion 17 million of this amount was collected in the accounts of domestic residents.

Considering the data adjusted for parity effect, there was a decrease of $1 billion 43 million in the total FX deposits of domestic residents as of November 24.

INSTALLMENT COMMERCIAL LOAN AMOUNT INCREASED

Consumer loans in deposit banks increased by 1.02% last week and reached ₺1 trillion 385 billion 281 million 145 thousand. In the same period, commercial installment loans increased by 1.26% to ₺1 trillion 210 billion 886 million 379 thousand, and credit card balances increased by 2.68% to ₺1 trillion 387 billion 715 million 46 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺397 billion 709 million 260 thousand were housing loans, ₺68 billion 491 million 816 thousand were vehicle loans and ₺919 billion 80 million 69 thousand were other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺113 billion 181 million 566 thousand in the week ending November 24, reaching ₺10 trillion 786 billion 614 million 391 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 55.12% compared to the same period last year.
