Turkiye: Deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺354 billion

Total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺354.4 billion in the week ending November 17, reaching ₺14 trillion 715.8 billion.

Weekly money and bank statistics were published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT).

Accordingly, total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺354 billion 355 million 133 thousand in the week ending November 17, reaching ₺14 trillion 715 billion 813 million 970 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 3.7% to ₺8 trillion 435 billion 499 million 811 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits increased by 1.1% to ₺5 trillion 690 billion 266 million 143 thousand.

While total FX deposits in banks amounted to $209 billion 449 million last week, $176.7 billion of this amount was collected in the accounts of domestic residents.

Considering the data adjusted for parity effect, there was a decrease of $685 million in the total FX deposits of domestic residents as of November 17.

Installment commercial loan amount increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks decreased by 0.5% last week and reached ₺1 trillion 371 billion 356 million 862 thousand. In the same period, commercial installment loans increased by 0.9% to ₺1 trillion 195 billion 825 million 458 thousand, and credit card balances increased by 0.3% to ₺1 trillion 351 billion 492 million 862 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺397 billion 996 million 654 thousand consisted of housing, ₺67 billion 891 million 799 thousand from vehicle loans and ₺905 billion 468 million 409 thousand from other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺76 billion 413 million 360 thousand in the week ending November 17, reaching ₺10 trillion 673 billion 432 million 825 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 54.8% compared to the same period last year.
