Turkiye joins EU’s €7.5 billion Digital Europe Program

Turkiye will participate in the European Union’s (EU) Digital Europe Program with a total budget of €7.5 billion.

The EU Commission has announced that Turkiye will be included in the Digital Europe Program, which focuses on building strategic digital capacities across Europe and expanding the use of digital technologies.

In the statement, it was stated that the EU Commission signed an association agreement with Turkiye regarding participation in the program, and that the agreement will enter into force once the relevant approval processes are completed.

In the statement, it was pointed out that businesses, public institutions and other eligible organizations in Turkiye will have access to the Digital Europe Program calls with a total budget of €7.5 billion in the 2021-2027 period. It was stated that participants from Turkiye in particular could take part in projects aimed at disseminating digital technologies across the EU in certain fields such as artificial intelligence and advanced digital skills, and they could also establish Digital Innovation Centers in Turkiye.

In the statement, it was noted that with the partnership agreement, the ties of the EU and Turkiye in the field of digital technologies will be further strengthened.

Within the scope of the Digital Europe Program, the establishment of critical digital infrastructures in the fields of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, data and cyber security and the development of strategically important innovative digital technologies are primarily supported.
