Exports worth $2 billion 180 million 312 thousand 152 were made from the Western Mediterranean region, which includes Antalya, Isparta and Burdur.
Umit Mirza Cavusoglu, President of the Western Mediterranean Exporters Association (BAIB), stated that exports from the Western Mediterranean reached $221 million 681 thousand 703 in October, and exports from the region between January 1 and October 31 reached $2 billion 180 million 312 thousand 152.
Sharing the information that exports from the region increased by 15.5% compared to October of the previous year, Cavusoglu stated that the most exports from the Western Mediterranean in October were made in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector.
Cavusoglu stated that the fresh fruit and vegetable sector exported $56 million 824 thousand 585 with an increase of 27.62% in October, and the mines and metals sector ranked second on the list with an increase of 25.76% and exports of $48 million 803 thousand 764.
Pointing out that the most exports in October were made to the People’s Republic of China, Cavusoglu stated that Russia was in second place and Germany was in third place.
The fresh fruit and vegetable sector made the most exports
Referring to the region’s 10-month export figures, Cavusoglu said;
“Our fresh fruit and vegetable sector made the most exports from our region in the 10-month period. Our fresh fruit and vegetable sector increased its exports by 27.66%, reaching $681 million 100 thousand. The mining and metals sector exported $404 million 611 thousand 41 in the 10-month period, with a decrease of 8.82%. The exports of our third-ranked wood products and forest products sector in the 10-month period increased by 9.65% and reached $270 million 518 thousand 392.”
Cavusoglu stated that the highest export in the 10-month period was made to China, with an increase of 30.81% and $202 million 432 thousand 144. He said that Germany ranked second with a 17.23% increase in exports and $190 million 542 thousand 968, and Russia ranked third with a 19.72% increase and $177 million 315 thousand 228.
