Turkiye’s electricity production increased by 1.76%

Turkiye’s licensed electricity production increased by 1.76% in October compared to the same month last year, reaching 24 million 557 thousand 859 megawatt hours.

According to the “Electricity Market Sector Report” of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority for October, 26.7% of licensed electricity production was made in imported coal power plants, 23% in natural gas power plants, 15.7% in hydroelectric power plants, 14.6% in lignite power plants, and 9.25% in wind power plants.

These sources were followed by lignite, river, biomass, geothermal, solar, hard coal, asphaltite and fuel oil, respectively.

Turkiye’s licensed electricity production reached 24 million 557 thousand 859 megawatt hours in October, with an increase of 1.76% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The amount of electricity consumption billed increased by 4.77% in the same period and reached 21 million 91 thousand 589 megawatt hours.

42.9% of the consumption was in industry, 25.4% in the public and private services sector and other subscribers, and 23.2% in residences. The share of lighting was recorded as 2.40%, and the share of agricultural activities was recorded as 4.91%.

Number of consumers and installed capacity increased

The number of electricity consumers increased by 2.7% in October compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 49 million 585 thousand 943.

During this period, there was a 3% increase in the number of residential consumers, a 3.8% increase in the number of agricultural activity consumers, and a 1.7% increase in the number of public and private services sector and other consumers. There was a 0.98% decrease in the number of lighting consumers and a 14.4% decrease in the number of industrial consumers.

Turkiye’s licensed electricity installed capacity increased by 0.90% in this period and reached 95 thousand 744 megawatts.

Natural gas power plants accounted for 26.4% of the installed capacity, hydroelectric power plants with dams for 24.3%, wind power plants for 12%, imported coal for 10.9%, and lignite power plants for 10.7%, the remaining part was made up of facilities producing electricity from other energy sources.
