Turkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports reached $250 million

Turkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports increased by 32% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $249.3 million.

Ferhat Guruz, Chairman of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that Turkiye exported $249.3 million of fresh fruit and vegetables in May.

Guruz, in his written statement, stated that their industry evaluated 334 thousand 876 tons of products in international markets in May.

“The most exported products of our industry were peach, tomato and lemon”

Stating that they supported the country’s foreign sales by 51% in the said month, Guruz said, “Turkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports increased by 32% compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $249.3 million. In May, our regional exports increased by 36% to $128 million.”

Guruz shared the information that most of the exports were made to Russia in May and said:

“The most exported products of our industry were peaches, tomatoes and lemons. We have reached an export value of $56.8 million in peach with an increase of 123%, $38.4 million in tomatoes with an increase of 44%, and $22 million in lemons. Russia ranked first with a 7% increase and $85.9 million in exports, Romania with a 90% increase and $34 million, and Ukraine with a 47% increase and $26.5 million.”
