Turkiye’s passenger car exports exceeded $8 billion in 9 months

Turkish automotive industry exported passenger cars worth $8 billion 21 million 731 thousand in the January-September period.

According to the information compiled by the AA correspondent from the Uludag Automotive Industry Exporters Association data, automotive industry representatives sold passenger cars to more than 110 countries, autonomous regions and free zones in January-September 2023.

During this period, the share of passenger cars in the exports of the automotive industry, which achieved a total of $25 billion 619 million 838 thousand in foreign sales, was 31.3%.

The sector, where European countries are among the main export markets, exported the most passenger cars to France. Automobile manufacturers exported $1 billion 527 million to this country in 9 months of the year.

There was a 60.95% increase in exports to France, where passenger cars worth $948 million 738 thousand were sent in the same period last year.

9-month passenger car exports to the UK, which ranks second on the list, increased by 5.7% compared to the same period last year, from $803 million 58 thousand to $848 million 850 thousand.

A total of $2 billion 375 million 850 thousand of exports to France and the United Kingdom constituted 29.61% of passenger car exports.

9% increase for Spain

Exports to Spain, which ranks third, increased by 32% compared to the same period last year, from $635 million 299 thousand to $839 million 165 thousand.

In the January-September period, sector representatives exported $814 million 984 thousand of passenger cars to Italy, which ranked fourth, with an increase of 37%, and $603 million 635 thousand of passenger cars to Poland, which ranked fifth, with an increase of 32%.

Germany ranked sixth with $569 million 511 thousand, Slovenia ranked seventh with $376 million 59 thousand, Belgium ranked eighth with $263 million 606 thousand, Israel ranked ninth with $262 million 752 thousand, and Bulgaria ranked tenth with $152 million 623 thousand.

European Union countries constituted 8 of the top 10 markets in passenger car exports.

Passenger car exports to Algeria, Kazakhstan and Libya increased

The increases in passenger car manufacturers’ exports to some countries attracted attention.

In the January-September period of last year, $4 million 200 thousand of passenger car exports were made to Algeria, and $143 million 119 thousand of vehicles were sold in the same period this year.

Industry representatives increased passenger car exports to Kazakhstan from $21 million 886 thousand to $97 million 898 thousand and exports to Libya from $1 million 617 thousand to $29 million 424 thousand in 9 months compared to the same period last year.
