The schedule for the May interest rate decision to be announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) Monetary Policy Committee has been set.
According to the schedule, the Central Bank’s May interest rate decision will be announced on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 14:00.
WHAT ARE THE INTEREST EXPECTATIONS OF ECONOMISTS?
Analysts noted that the interest rate decision to be announced by the CBRT at this week’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting is a key focus for investors.
All economists participating in AA Finance’s expectations survey predicted that the CBRT would maintain the policy rate at 50%. The median expectation for the year-end policy rate among economists was calculated to be 45%.
Additionally, Turkiye’s 5-year credit risk premium (CDS) dropped to its lowest level since February 2020, reaching 266.46 basis points last week and starting the new week at 268.5 basis points.

In line with expectations, the Central Bank kept the policy rate unchanged at 50% in April.
Economists had widely expected the interest rate to remain constant.
