$1.3 billion of exports from the electrical-electronics sector in February

The February exports of the electric-electronics sector increased by 11.7% compared to the same period of 2022 and reached $1 billion 310 million.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), the exports of the electrical-electronics sector, which was $1 billion 173 million in February last year, increased to $1 billion 310 million in the same period of 2023.

Looking at the export distribution of the sector on the basis of countries, the highest export was made to the United Kingdom with $125.3 million in February. Germany followed with $117.2 million and Russia with $81.2 million. It was noteworthy that the electrical-electronic exports to Russia increased by 145.9% in February compared to the same period of the previous year.

Ukraine with an increase of 307.7% and $33.1 million, Azerbaijan, with an increase of 53.9% and $37.2 million, the USA with an increase of 49% and $38.6 million, and Iraq with an increase of 39.2% and $53.1 million came to the fore among the countries where electrical-electronic exports increased.

Ankara’s electrical-electronic exports increased by 78.8%

The region to which the sector exports the most, based on country groups, was the European Union (EU) countries. Exporting $542.5 million to EU countries in February 2022, the sector realized an export of $579.7 million to the region with an increase of 6.9% in the same period of this year.

EU countries were followed by the Commonwealth of Independent States with an export of $195.5 million. Electric-electronic exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States increased by 83.8% compared to February last year.

Electric-electronic exports to Middle Eastern countries in February increased by 21.9% to $161.4 million.

Looking at the export figures of the sector on the basis of provinces, Istanbul was the province with the highest export sales in February, with $617.6 million.

Istanbul was followed by Manisa with $180 million, Ankara with $105.3 million and Kocaeli with $91.4 million in electrical and electronics exports. Among the provinces that increased their electrical-electronic exports, Ankara stood out with an increase of 78.8% and Kocaeli with an increase of 36.5%.
