31% of Turkiye’s 10-month hazelnut exports come from Trabzon

31% of Turkiye’s 10-month hazelnut exports, which amounted to $1 billion 414 thousand, were made by companies operating in Trabzon.

Sebahattin Arslanturk, Vice Chairman of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, stated in his written statement that Turkiyr exported hazelnuts worth $1 billion 414 thousand in the 10 months of 2023.

Arslanturk reported that 31% of the exports, $445 million 12 thousand, were made from Trabzon.

Emphasizing that agriculture is a sector that should be given great importance, Arslanturk stated that due to climate change, all countries have prioritized agriculture with incentive instruments aimed at increasing efficiency and production.

Stating that support models that will increase hazelnut yield and direct farmers to higher quality production should be established urgently in Turkiye, Arslanturk noted that they want a system to be established that will encourage and plan production, especially the renewal of gardens, the development of new drought-resistant hazelnut types and their distribution to farmers.
