80 thousand 308 houses were sold in Turkiye in January

The number of house sales across Turkiye decreased by 17.8% in January compared to the same month last year, reaching 80 thousand 308.

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) announced housing sales statistics for January.

Accordingly, house sales across Turkiye decreased by 17.8% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 80 thousand 308. Istanbul had the highest share in housing sales with 13 thousand 423 house sales and 16.7%. According to sales numbers, Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 6 thousand 709 house sales and 8.4% share, and Antalya with 5 thousand 250 house sales and 6.5% share. The provinces with the lowest number of house sales were Ardahan with 17 houses, Hakkari with 38 houses and Bayburt with 40 houses.

Mortgaged house sales across Turkiye decreased by 63.5% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 5 thousand 915. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales was 7.4%. 1,404 of the mortgage sales in January were new sales.

The number of new house sales was 25 thousand 263

The number of new house sales across Turkiye decreased by 8.2% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 25 thousand 263. The share of new house sales in total house sales was 31.5%.

Second-hand house sales across Turkiye decreased by 21.6% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 55 thousand 45. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was 68.5%.

2 thousand 61 houses were sold to foreigners in January

Housing sales to foreigners decreased by 50.5% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 2 thousand 61. The share of housing sales to foreigners in total housing sales in January was 2.6%. Antalya took the first place in housing sales to foreigners with 747 house sales. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 710 house sales and Mersin with 211 house sales.

In January, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 555 houses from Turkiye. Citizens of the Russian Federation were followed by citizens of Iran with 208 houses, Ukraine with 127 houses, and citizens of Iraq and Kazakhstan with 99 houses, respectively.
