Turkish stocks down at weekly open

BIST 100 index loses nearly 14 point from last week’s close

Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,405.45 points on Monday, falling 0.98% or 13.98 points from the previous close.

At last week’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was up 0.1% to 1,419.43 points, with a daily trading volume of around 12 billion Turkish liras ($1.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.7210 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) from 8.6280 on Friday.

One euro traded for 10.2220 Turkish liras, versus 10.1290 at the previous close.The British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 11.9830, up from 11.9020.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $74.80 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).​​​​​​​
