Economists participating in the AA Finans Balance of Payments Expectation Survey expect the current account to have a deficit of $8.8 billion in January.
AA Finans’ expectations survey on the January 2023 Balance of Payments data to be announced by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) on Monday, March 13, resulted in the participation of 12 economists.
According to the survey, the current account is expected to run a deficit of $8.8 billion in January. The current account deficit expectations of economists for the period in question were between $3 billion 500 million and $10 billion 200 million.
Economists expect the current account to have a deficit of $43.3 billion at the end of the year. The expectation of the 2023 year-end current account deficit of the economists who participated in the survey was in the range of $35-$50 billion.
While the current account had a deficit of $5 billion 910 million in December 2022, the current account deficit was $48 billion 769 million in 2022.
