Within the scope of the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkiye and Qatar, the certification bodies accredited by the Halal Accreditation Agency were registered in the Qatar Global Partnership System.
Halal certificates issued by certification bodies accredited by the Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) will be allowed to enter the Qatar market without the need for additional processing.
According to the information obtained by the AA correspondent, HAK assumes a leading role in the international arena with its efforts to ensure that halal certificates are recognized by the competent authorities of other countries.
In this context, a memorandum of understanding was signed with this country on October 14, 2022 in Istanbul for the recognition of HAK accredited halal certificates in Qatar. Thus, the first step was taken to allow Turkish products to enter the Qatari market with halal certificates accredited by HAK.
With a new system introduced by Qatar recently, halal certificates issued by certification bodies recognized by the Qatari Ministry of Public Health have started to be accepted in this country.
Within the scope of the memorandum of understanding signed between Turkiye and Qatar, the certification bodies accredited by the HAK were registered to the Qatar Global Partnership System (GPS).
In this context, halal certificates issued by certification bodies accredited by HAK were directly recognized by the Ministry of Public Health of Qatar, without the need for any additional processing.
Thus, the way for halal-certified products accredited by HAK to enter the Qatar market was officially opened.
Halal certificates are recognized in the international arena
This cooperation between Turkiye and Qatar is an important example for the wider recognition of the Standards and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC) standards in the international arena.
HAK will continue its efforts for global acceptance of halal certificates in the coming period.
