CBRT: Deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺138.1 billion

Total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺138.1 billion in the week ending October 20, reaching ₺14 trillion 162.1 billion.

Weekly money and bank statistics were published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT).

Accordingly, total deposits in the banking sector (including interbank) increased by ₺138 billion 131 million 713 thousand in the week ending October 13, reaching ₺14 trillion 162 billion 110 million 867 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 0.1% to ₺8 trillion 11 billion 7 million 247 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits increased by 2.1% to ₺5 trillion 525 billion 896 million 148 thousand.

While total FX deposits in banks amounted to $208 billion 325 million last week, $175 billion 427 million of this amount was collected in the accounts of domestic residents.

Considering data adjusted for parity effect, there was an increase of $456 million in total FX deposits of domestic residents as of October 20.

Installment commercial loan amount increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks decreased by 0.5% last week and reached ₺1 trillion 362 billion 368 million 908 thousand. In the same period, commercial installment loans increased by 1% to ₺1 trillion 151 billion 378 million 103 thousand, and credit card balances decreased by 1% to ₺1 trillion 290 billion 225 million 928 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺400 billion 173 million 336 thousand consisted of housing, ₺66 billion 885 million 939 thousand from vehicle loans and ₺895 billion 309 million 633 thousand from other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺42 billion 970 million 119 thousand in the week ending October 20, reaching ₺10 trillion 361 billion 831 million 417 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 55.9% compared to the same period last year.
