China’s automobile exports experienced a substantial growth of 47.4% in January compared to the same month last year, according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
In January 2024, a total of 443,000 vehicles were exported, consisting of 369,000 passenger vehicles and 74,000 commercial vehicles, as reported by Emre Aytekin.
The overall export figure marked a significant increase of 47.4% compared to January of the previous year. The export of passenger vehicles saw a growth of 47.5%, while commercial vehicles experienced a 46.9% surge in exports.
The export of “New Energy Vehicles (NEV),” including chargeable, battery-powered, hybrid, and fuel cell electric vehicles, also saw an impressive increase of 21.7%, reaching a total of 101,000 units.
In the preceding year, China surpassed Japan, exporting 4.91 million vehicles and securing its position as the world’s largest automobile exporter. The surge to the forefront of the automotive sector during a year of decreased general exports was attributed to the rise in electric vehicle production and exports.
