Deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺319.7 billion

Total deposits of the banking sector increased by ₺319.7 billion in the week ending January 12 compared to the previous week, reaching ₺15 trillion 426.3 billion.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (CBRT) announced weekly money and bank statistics.

Accordingly, the total deposits of the banking sector (including interbank) increased by 319 billion 651 million 471 thousand in the week ending January 12, reaching 15 trillion 426 billion 318 million 828 thousand.

In the same period, TL deposits in banks increased by 3.2% to ₺8 trillion 862 billion 215 million 143 thousand, and foreign currency (FX) deposits increased by 1.3% to ₺5 trillion 957 billion 250 million 989 thousand.

While total FX deposits in banks amounted to $210 billion 76 million last week, $176 billion 998 million of this amount was collected in the accounts of domestic residents.

Considering the data adjusted for parity effect, there was an increase of $926 million in the total FX deposits of domestic residents as of January 12.

Installment commercial loan amount increased

Consumer loans in deposit banks increased by 0.5% last week and reached ₺1 trillion 437 billion 541 million 651 thousand. In the same period, commercial installment loans increased by 0.5% to ₺1 trillion 277 billion 32 million 448 thousand, and credit card balances increased by 1.6% to ₺1 trillion 574 billion 257 million 358 thousand.

Of the consumer loans in deposit banks, ₺394 billion 982 million 905 thousand consisted of housing, ₺72 billion 575 million 984 thousand from vehicle loans and ₺969 billion 982 million 762 thousand from other loans.

The total credit volume of the banking sector, including the CBRT, increased by ₺83 billion 972 million 393 thousand in the week ending January 12, reaching ₺11 trillion 310 billion 780 million 340 thousand. Total loan volume increased by 53.1% compared to the same period last year.
