Expectations for activity in heavy commercial vehicle sales

According to a written statement from the Heavy Commercial Vehicles Association (TAİD), Chairman of the Board Burak Hoşgören evaluated the first quarter of 2024 at a meeting attended by its members.

Hoşgören drew attention to the market for heavy commercial vehicles in the first quarter of the year, stating, “It contracted by 3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. While the total number of vehicles sold during this period was 10,121, acceleration is expected in the other quarters of the year.”

“Export amount of the sector in 2023 reached 30 billion dollars” Burak Hoşgören provided information about the activities of TAİD members, stating that the export amount of the sector in 2023 reached 30 billion dollars.

Hoşgören stated, “As TAİD, we bring together many commercial vehicle manufacturers imported and produced in Turkey under the same roof. All these brands carry the burden of many different sectors in Turkey and support local production and employment. On the other hand, our vehicle users also contribute to the country’s production and exports, so our sector has strategic importance.”

Emphasizing that the sector’s strategy is based on compliance with international standards and embracing sustainability principles, Hoşgören stated that sustainability is a necessity for the sector in every aspect.

Hoşgören emphasized that they are obliged to implement sustainability policies of the European Union and the rest of the world, stating:

“In order to address the challenges posed by the climate crisis, the world is moving decisively towards the goal of carbon neutrality. In parallel with this, developments in technology are radically transforming mobility. This offers us unique opportunities in terms of innovation, efficiency, and security. As a result, we are experiencing a very important wave of transformation in the history of logistics and transportation. Emerging technologies such as electric and autonomous vehicles, combined with the urgent need for sustainable practices, are reshaping our way of doing business.

Connectivity is crucial in the smart logistics era. The integration of advanced telematics, artificial intelligence, and data analytics is revolutionizing the design, production, and operation of trailers and heavy commercial vehicles. With its strategic location, qualified workforce, and vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, Turkey is well positioned in this revolution. Not only does Turkey embrace these technologies, but it also has the potential to become an innovation hub by promoting collaboration among industry leaders, new ventures, and research institutions.”

“The new logo represents strength and authority” Hoşgören, who introduced TAİD’s new logo at the meeting, stated that it represents strength and authority while emphasizing the association’s modern and innovative vision that keeps up with the changes in the sector. Hoşgören stated, “The new logo represents not only a visual change but also a new perspective on the sector. This perspective is based on unity and solidarity, continuous development, and innovation. With its new logo, TAİD will continue to play a stronger role in the sector and contribute to the development of the Turkish economy and the heavy commercial vehicle sector.”
