Exports of $170.4 million from Mediterranean ready-made clothing manufacturers in the first half of the year

Gurkan Tekin, Chairman of the Board of the Mediterranean Ready-made Clothing and Apparel Exporters’ Association (AHKIB), stated that they realized foreign sales of $170.4 million in the January-June period.

In his written statement, Tekin stated that they evaluated 18,978 tons of products in export markets in the first 6 months of this year.

Providing information on the January-June period of foreign sales of his troops, Tekin said, “AHKIB brought Turkiye $170.4 million in foreign currency in the first half of 2023.”

Noting that they achieved remarkable increases in some markets, Tekin said:

“The Netherlands ranked first with a 21% share and $35.6 million in our exports in the aforementioned period. This country was followed by Spain with a 20% share and $33.9 million, and Germany with an 11% share and $19.5 million. The countries with the strongest increases in export volume were Saudi Arabia with an increase of $94 thousand and $4 million, and Russia with an increase of 1214% and $8.8 million. In the first half of the year, women’s outerwear, men’s outerwear and artificial-synthetic machine-made carpets accounted for 81% of our regional exports. We reached an export value of $86.7 million in women’s outerwear, $38 million in men’s outerwear, and $14.4 million in artificial-synthetic machine-made carpets.”
