Foreign trade volume with Turkish lira reached ₺163.5 billion

In the first quarter of the year, the foreign trade volume realized with Turkish lira increased by 141.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and was calculated as ₺163 billion 491 million.

According to the compilation made from the Ministry of Commerce data, Turkiye’s exports increased by 4.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and reached $23.6 billion in March, despite the negative effects of the Kahramanmaras-based earthquakes in production and supply.

This figure was recorded as the highest monthly export figure of all time. Imports, on the other hand, increased by 4.2% to $32.2 billion. In the first quarter of this year, exports increased by 2.5% to $61.6 billion, while imports increased by 11.4% to $96.5 billion.

Foreign trade with the Turkish lira also followed a course in parallel with the developments in Turkiye’s foreign trade volume.

Accordingly, while exports in Turkish lira were ₺14 billion 768 million, imports were ₺30 billion 739 million, foreign trade volume increased to ₺45 billion 507 million.

Earthquake effect in February

Exports in Turkish lira decreased to ₺13 billion 840 million in February due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaras that occurred on 6 February. Imports in Turkish lira were recorded as ₺40 billion 364 million and foreign trade volume as ₺54 billion 204 million in this period.

Turkiye’s exports in February, with the effect of earthquakes, decreased by 6.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and became 18.6 billion.

The recovery in exports in March was also reflected in exports in Turkish lira.

In March, the export in question increased by 94.6% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to ₺18 billion 70 million. In this period, while the amount of imports in Turkish lira was ₺45 billion 710 million, the foreign trade volume increased to ₺63 billion 780 million.

In the first quarter of the year, exports in Turkish lira increased by 87.6% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and reached ₺46 billion 678 million. In this period, imports in Turkish lira were recorded as ₺116 billion 813 million.

In the first quarter of the year, the foreign trade volume with Turkish lira was calculated as ₺163 billion 491 million, with an increase of 141.6% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

On the other hand, the number of countries exporting with Turkish lira was 159 and the number of companies exporting with Turkish lira was 8 thousand 460 in March.
