Getir acquires US online grocery company FreshDirect

Getir reached an agreement to completely acquire FreshDirect, a US-based online grocery company with an annual turnover of $650 million.

According to the company statement, Getir will acquire New York-based FreshDirect from Ahold Delhaize USA, one of America’s largest food retail groups. The deal is expected to be completed in November.

FreshDirect will provide a faster and more convenient service to its users by taking advantage of the technology and operational experience of Getir, which has been operating in the USA since 2021. Getir will make its service even more attractive for its users in New York by taking advantage of FreshDirect’s fresh product quality and diversity.

FreshDirect has become one of the most important online grocery players in the geography in which it operates by establishing strong business relationships with the best agricultural and food product manufacturers in the region. The company, which serves a total of 3 states, including New Jersey and Connecticut, as well as New York, will continue to operate in its facility in the Bronx district of New York, preserving the FreshDirect brand name after the completion of the acquisition.
