Here are the 27 electric vehicle models that will not be sold in Turkiye this year

The Ministry of Commerce’s decision regarding electric vehicle imports has temporarily closed many brands and models in Turkiye.

According to the news of journalist Emre Ozpeynirci, while the sale of remarkable models was planned in 2024, some vehicles were prevented from entering Turkiye due to the change in import conditions. Among these vehicles is the Volvo EX30.

Following the decision taken by the Ministry of Commerce regarding electric vehicle imports, the door to Turkiye has been closed for many brands and models for now. The number of electric vehicles registered to traffic in Turkiye increased approximately 5.5 times compared to 2022, reaching 80 thousand 43. While 1 out of every 1000 vehicles in traffic will be electric in 2022, last year 5 out of every 1000 vehicles became electric.

THESE ELECTRIC VEHICLES WILL BE IN TURKIYE IN 2024

It was announced that remarkable electric vehicle models would be offered for sale in Turkiye in 2024.

Automobile editor Ozpeynirci announced that Alfa Romeo Milano, Audi Q4 e-Tron, Audi Q6 e-Tron, BMW iX2, BMW i5 Touring, BYD Seal, BYD Han, BYD Dolphin, Citroen e-C3, Cupra Born, MINI Countryman EV, MG Cyberster, Neta U, Neta GT, Neta AYA, Opel B-SUV EV, Opel C-SUV EV, Peugeot e-208, Peugeot e-3008, Porsche Macan EV, Cupra Tavascan, Ford Explorer, Ford Puma EV, Fiat 600, Hyundai Kona EV, Kia EV9, Kia EV3, Leapmotor C10, Lexus RZ, Mercedes EQA, Mercedes EQB (FL), Porsche new Taycan, Skywell EA3, Skywell EA5, Skywell new ET5, Skoda Enyaq, Toyota bZ4X, Volkswagen ID.3, Volkswagen ID.4, Volkswagen ID.5, Volkswagen ID.7, Mercedes G Series EV and Volvo EX30 models will be sold.

While electric vehicle sales accelerated with the entry of Togg into the market, the door to Turkiye was closed for some vehicles after the “Communiqué on the Import of Some Electric Vehicles”, which came into force on December 29. According to Ozpeynirci, if there is no change in the legal step, some electric vehicle models will not be officially brought to Turkiye.

In the statement made by the company on the subject, the following was said, “We had a great desire to introduce you to the new Volvo EX30, which is the first premium B-SUV model produced by Volvo Cars and has the lowest carbon footprint among all Volvo cars produced to date. However, within the scope of the “Communiqué on the Import of Certain Electric Vehicles (Import 2023/22)” published by the Ministry of Commerce in the Official Gazette dated 29.11.2023 and numbered 32384, it cannot be imported into the Turkish market yet due to the new import conditions that came into force on 29.12.2023 in accordance with Article 5 of the Communiqué titled “Effectiveness”. At the point and time allowed by the new import conditions, we will take the necessary steps to offer our Volvo EX30 model for sale in Turkiye.”
