Here are the list of the best-selling car brands in the first month of 2024

The brands with the highest sales in the Turkish automobile and light commercial vehicle market in January this year were listed as Fiat, Renault and Volkswagen.

According to the data of the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), automobile and light commercial vehicle sales in the first month of the year increased by 56.6% compared to the same period of 2023, reaching 79 thousand 701. During this period, automobile sales increased by 71.7% to 64 thousand 41, and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 15.1% to 15 thousand 660.

These figures were recorded as the highest January data of all time

Last month, Fiat ranked first in total sales of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles with 11 thousand 724 units. Fiat was followed by Renault with 10 thousand 5 sales and Volkswagen with 6 thousand 516 sales.

Ford ranked fourth with 6 thousand 282 sales, and Toyota ranked fifth with 5 thousand 782 sales.

Renault had the most sales

Considering automobile sales, the brand that sold the most in January was Renault with 8 thousand 873. It was followed by Fiat with 7 thousand 611 sales and Toyota with 4 thousand 590 sales.

While Volkswagen ranked fourth with sales of 4 thousand 580 vehicles, Chery ranked fifth with sales of 4 thousand 450 vehicles.

Luxury car sales did not slow down

In the ODMD list, which includes a total of 52 brands, it was seen that all brands except Smart made sales last month.

While Togg’s deliveries were 1625 for January, Tesla’s sales remained at 220.

In the luxury car group, 403 DS, 78 Porsche, 14 Lexus, 12 Maserati, 5 Jaguar, two each of Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin and 1 Bentley were sold in January.

Sales of Chinese brands had a significant increase

Especially last year, there was a significant increase in the interest of Chinese brands in Turkiye. This situation was also reflected in the number of companies entering the market, and the number of Chinese-origin brands in the Turkish automotive market increased to 10.

Chinese brands such as Skywell, MG, Chery, Leapmotor, Seres, Voyah, Hongqi, DFSK, BYD and Maxus made sales in Turkiye. While DFSK and Chery offer cars with internal combustion engines for sale in the Turkish market, MG, both electric and internal combustion, and other brands appear in Turkiye with their electric models. Voyah, which sells luxury segment cars, is not listed on ODMD.

While Chery stood out among Chinese automotive brands with sales of 4,450 vehicles in January, it was followed by MG with 971 vehicle sales and BYD with 155 sales. The sales of the Chinese luxury car brand Hongqi were recorded as 2.

Top 5 brands in light commercial sales

Looking at the light commercial vehicle segment, Fiat was at the top of the list with 4 thousand 113 sales last month, followed by Ford with 3 thousand 204 sales and Volkswagen with 1936 sales. Toyota came in fourth with 1192 sales, and Renault came in fifth with 1132 sales.
